Project Title: Technical assistance to Slovak SMEs in proposal preparation
No: INCO-CT-2004-003362
Project Objective: Preparation, training and technical support for Slovak small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in writing projects submitted within the scope of the Sixth Framework Programme (6FP) funded by the European Commission.

Target Group: Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs)
Definition: SME – independent legal entity
- Less than 250 employees
- Annual turnover less than 40 mil. Euros
- Must not be controlled by 25% or more by a company which is not an SME
Note: For some type of projects extended criteria for SME are applicable.
Project Start: 1.7. 2004
Project Duration: 25 months
Project Scope
1. WP2: Mapping Slovak SMEs current status and demands for projects by hosting 8 SME Information Days in separate regions of Slovakia with the objectives:
O To provide information on potentials of using the 6FP for funding projects supporting the development of SMEs
O To map/monitor the interests of SMEs to prepare project proposals in respective domain
O To map needs for training of SMEs managers and experts to prepare project proposals and needs for assistance
Research and analysis of the current status and potential development of SMEs in Slovakia by means of European funds.

2. WP3: Training programmes on proposal development (workshops)
Five intensive 5-days workshops (2 days 2days 1day) for selected 5x12 i.e. 60 managers and experts from Slovak SMEs.
The objective of the workshops in selected regions of Slovakia is to provide relevant information relating to preparation of project documents (project proposals). In the course of workshops and also thereafter participants will have access to documents necessary for study through Internet applying e-learning method.
The objective of the workshop practical trainings is to draft a basic structure of the project proposal in small groups or by individuals for a selected scope of projects in compliance with the EU methodology. Upon conclusion of 5-days workshop separate groups of participants present concrete examples of project proposals. The workshops will be conducted in Slovak language by presentation of various forms and project documents printed
The entire workshop is accredited with the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic.

3. WP4: Proposal preparation assistance for projects to be submitted within the frame of 6FP programme.
Applicants develop their own concrete project relating to currently valid calls for project proposal submission within 6FP.
The developed project (in English) will subsequently be submitted to the European Commission as an application for funding the project proposal of the respective company (SME).
Project funding:
The PROPASS project was approved and will be funded by the European Commission.
The participants of „Information Days“and Workshops are to cover travel costs, boarding and eventual accommodation only.
Assistance in drafting projects is covered by the European Commission to a limited extent.
